Cam Shafts also known as "The Cam" are an important component
for those looking to race. Cam shafts are only used on four stroke engines. (For practical purposes, however there are many
engine designs that are not four stroke that still incorporate them) A performance cam shaft has the timing slightly advanced
or retarded from the stock setting depending on the desired result.
Cam shafts are connected to the crankshaft
via a timing chain or timing gear. There purpose is to regulate the opening and closing of the valves. These in turn regulate
the amount and rate of air being drawn in and out of the cylinder for compression and expansion by the piston… we have
some of the best CAMS available here at ICR.
