The Crankshaft is a component of an engine located in the middle of the
crank case. Its function is to transfer the power generated by the combustion and expansion of gasses that occurs in the cylinder
to the output shaft via a transmission. (Some engines use the crank shaft as the out put shaft but very few. Those engines
do not require a transmission.) It works by converting the reciprocating motion of the piston to a spinning motion via a connecting
rod. The spinning force it creates is measured in torque.
